The Maldives - Diving and Beach Haven of the Indian Ocean
The Maldives consists of about 26 atolls and nearly 1190 islands
of which only 200 are populated.
Maldives is famous not only for its immaculate beaches, but also
for its vivid underwater world.
Most islands have a nearby house reef, which offers snorkellers and divers
alike a fascinating marine world that is special to this region.
The climate of Maldives is divided into two seasons of the year:
The north-east monsoon season, the high-season as far as tourism is
concerned, lasts from December until April. During these months there
is little rainfall, clear skies, and long hours of bright sunlight.
The second season: The south-west monsoon
season, from May to November, has a lot of sunshine, although,
from time to time there is rainfall and a thick layer of clouds, but which
does usually not last for very long.
During the times when the monsoon winds are turning there are a couple of
weeks of heavy rainfall.
Temperatures range between 26°C and 30°C throughout the year.
