Medhufushi Island Resort  



The island Medhufushi (130 km and 40 minutes to fly away from the airport of Malé) is 900 m long and between 90 m and 200 m wide. It has a charming lagoon, an ideal condition for swimming, surfing, canoeing, sailing and diving beginners. The white beach has loads of shadow spending palms, rubber trees, mangroves, scaevola trees and many other plants.

Rooms/Accommodation: The island has a dispose of 118 villas of different categories. Each offers the comfort of a five star hotel. Every single bungalow has ocean view and beach approach and is located under shady palms so that it can hardly be seen from outside. The very comfortable Beach Bungalows have their own terrace, are air conditioned, furnished tastefully and posses all minibar, telephone, TV with satellite transmission, a safe for personal belongings, stereo system and a huge, open bathroom with toilet, shower or bath with warm and cold water without salt. In the lagoon at the northern side of the resort there are 36 Water Villas which are build on stilts, which additional offer a bath and a footpath into the sea. In two exclusive suites, which are located directly in the middle of the lagoon, there are bathrooms with jacuzzi. These bungalows, existing of massive teak wood have their own sun deck with steps leading to the water.

The restaurant of the island "Mallafay" offers buffets with a large assortment of international and local dishes: meat, poultry, seafood, pasta, grilled meat, different salads, tropic fruits and a luxurious buffet of desserts. Furthermore barbecues at the beach and buffets of Maldivian specialties ensure more change. The coffeeshop has a rich selection of food and drinks; the beach bar offers cocktails, beer, juices, wine and non-alcoholic drinks.


Activities: Inclusive are snorkeling trips (equipment at extra charge), fitness centre, deep sea fishing, volleyball, table tennis. At extra charge: banana boat rides, kayaks, fun-tubes, windsurfing, waterskiing, katamaran sailing, treatment in the "Mantara-Spa", diving. The Werner Lau Barakuda Dive Center is run by Olaf Holsten and is with its team of four diving teachers at your disposal. Medhufushi offers the ideal combination of relaxed diving out of the boat with two diving tours a day and additional a wonderful lagoon for bathing.

In front of the diving school the white beach with some coral reefs falls away softly to a water depth of twelve meters. The nearest diving locations for dives out of the boat are reachable between five minutes and one hour. Because many diving spots are in the inner of the atoll, they are ideal for marvellous diving without stress. Of course professionals as well get their money's worth: famous diving spots are for example Mulah-Kandu and Mulee-Kandu.
