The Royal Lotus Hotel is located directly on the Giritale Water Basin
and a 15-minute drive away from the 12th Century medieval town of Polonnaruwa.
During the dry season, end of May to November, elephants and deer may be
observed whilst drinking at the Giritale Basin. The hotel is also the
perfect location to study colourful, tropical birds in the jungle and the
Minneriya National Park offers jeep-safaris, elephant riding and bicycle
