The island is located on the eastern fringes of the Ari Atoll, about 65 kilometres from
the airport, and can be reached by speedboat in 2 hours and by waterplane in
20 minutes. The island has a calibre of 400m, is circular and enclosed by
a fine sandy beach with a view coral reefs in the flat water area. The island
is abundantly covered with coconut palms, and even pelicans can be seen
occasionally.
The hotel is integrated in the natural, lush vegetation of the island. Beside
the main restaurant, the hotel offers a second restaurant specialised in seafood
and a snack bar. There is also a swimming pool with
pool bar, sun loungers on the beach and at the pool, sun umbrellas on the beach,
2 bars, library, souvenir shop, jeweller, coffee shop with internet (extra charge) and
a spa.
Rooms/Accommodation:
24 Superior Rooms, about 52m², in two-storeyed buildings with four accommodation
units each. The rooms are tastefully furnished with outdoor-bath, hair-dryer,
telephone, air-conditioning, minibar, coffee-/tea-making facilities, safe,
balcony or terrace.
Diving:
The island is an eldorado for divers. The magnificent house reef is just 30 metres
away from the beach, with a vertical drop-off up to 25 metres to the south of the
island. The PADI diving school takes divers to an interesting diving
spot near the island Halaveli. The diving school also offers nitrox diving,
CMAS, NAUI and VIT. Wreck divers have the opportunity to see an in 1989
foundered banana freighter or the in 1991 sunken transport ship - the so-called
Halaveli Wreck, which lays in a depth of 28 metres in an upright position. One
should keep an eye on the sometimes annoying sting rays, which are fed near the
wreck. Excursions are organised to visit some of the best dive sites in the Maldives
such as Fish Head, Maya Thila and Orimas Thila.
